Carlson Riverboard Small

The Carlson riverboard is the original American riverboard, created in the early 80's by California surfer Robert Carlson. It has been used heavily by the river-rescue community, and is also a popular choice with riverboarding guides and recreational boarders.



It is made of thick ethafoam with 160 pounds of flotation, which is much more than most water rescue devices. The bottom is coated with another thin layer of lower-density ethafoam and then covered with a thin layer of slick, bright green plastic, making the board very quick and manueverable (and visible).



The four hard-rubber handles are molded for fingers to hold onto easily and bolted securely through the board with extremely high-rated bolts (rated for swiftwater helicopter rescue).



Two channels run down the center of the board which are made to lock onto your body.



The channels are made to grip the foam of your lifejacket so that your board remains locked onto your body when swimming freestyle (with no hands on the urethane handles), or when 'mystery moving underwater', or while boogie surfing.



The board is designed to get you safely through the roughest whitewater you will ever encounter, but is also great for just endlessly surfing your local wave.



While similar in size to the RMR and RIVERx, the Carlson is the lightest board on the market, weighing in at only 8lbs.
